NiP Captain “Ppd” Retires From Professional Dota 2

Ninja in Pyjamas fans will be disheartened to know that one of the best players of the team, Peter “Ppd” Dager has decided to retire from the competitive Dota 2 scene. That’s right, the American player who started his career around seven years ago is finally moving on from his current profession to explore additional fields. This was confirmed by Ppd himself through a tweet in which he explained the reasons behind his decision.

Ppd Dota 2 Career

Ppd started his professional Dota 2 career in 2013 when he joined the team Stay Free. Since then, he has played for a number of top teams and has helped them get to the top. Ppd is well known for his time with Evil Geniuses. Thanks to his excellent captaincy, EG managed to win The International 2015. This was the team’s first TI win, something which helped them become one of the top Dota 2 teams in the world. Aside from being their captain, Ppd also served as the CEO of the team for a year.

Ppd was recently playing with Ninjas in Pyjamas. He has been a part of them since September 2018. In June 2017, NiP closed its Dota 2 division because their team wasn’t delivering promising results. But in 2018, they formed a new squad with Ppd being their captain. Since then, NiP’s performance has been good as they won some big tournaments including OGA Dota PIT Minor 2019, the StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Minor Season 2,  and a few more.

Now, the 28-year-old player has announced that he will officially retire from competitive Dota 2. This decision has been made so that he can focus more on his personal growth. Although he is still capable of leading NiP, the Dota 2 pro just can’t continue further. In a long post, he mentioned that he is now more focused on personal growth rather than “competition versus others.” He even mentioned that he doesn’t feel bad about it as change his healthy. The NiP captain is also passionate about doing something in his early 30’s.

How This Will Affect The Team

Now that Ppd has retired from the Dota 2 scene, NiP is yet again left with an empty spot. The worrying thing is that it will be somewhat challenging to find someone with the same experience and skills as Ppd. Although NiP is one of the top teams in the world, it has gone through several roster changes. They were already busy with filling another gap after the ESL One Los Angeles Online. ppd

Ppd’s drafting ability and technical skills were something that has helped NiP stay strong even during tough times. His retirement is definitely going to have a bad impact on the team’s performance, until and unless they can find someone like him. Even if they do, it will take some time for the existing players to adjust to the new one. They will once again have to spend a lot of time practicing together. In any case, it will be interesting to see who NiP is going to pick up next. Fans are also eagerly waiting to know who the next captain is going to be.
