CS:GO is one of the most popular games out there. It is played by millions of players every month. Because of the fact that the game gets a lot of attention from all across the world, Valve makes sure that it stays clean of hackers and cheaters. To do this, they use the Valve Anti-Cheat System, popularity known as VAC. This system makes sure that every game is fair and free from any cheaters.
CS:GO Anti-Cheat System
While this cheat system punishes hackers, it sometimes accidentally bans those players who weren’t even cheating. This can become quite frustrating as you are unable to play your game for hours, days, or even weeks. You can get banned out of nowhere in the middle of a competitive game, and then spend hours trying to figure out what just happened. The worst part is that if it happens once, then it can keep on happening again and again from time to time.
How To Prevent CS:GO VAC Authentication Errors
If you’re someone who is currently facing this issue, then you’ll be glad to know that there are some ways to resolve this issue. In fact, Valve has recommended some fixes itself so that players can start enjoying their game quickly.
Restart Your Computer
The first thing we’ll suggest you do is to restart your computer. While this may seem like a really simple solution, it has worked for many. There are times when the game only needs a fresh boot to start working properly again.
Reinstall Both CS:GO and Steam
The second thing that can help you solve the issue is by reinstalling CS:GO and Steam. We’ll first suggest that you uninstall CS:GO. But if the issue is still present after this, then reinstall both the game and the Steam client. If you cannot afford to download them again, then you can also just verify your game files through Steam. To do this, right-click on CS:GO in your library, click on Properties > Local Files. Afterward, just click on “verify the integrity of game files.”
Repair Steam Service
Another fix for the VAC ban issue is by repairing Steam service. There might be some corrupt files in your Steam client that are causing the problem. The best way to do this is by exiting Steam, clicking Start > Run (Windows Key + R), and typing the following command:
- “C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\bin\SteamService.exe” /repair
Once you do this, launch Steam again to see if the issue is resolved or not.
Restore Boot Settings
Restoring boot settings to default is another method that you can try. This will remove any settings that are not compatible with the VAC. To do this, simply exit Steam, click the start button, and make your way to Accessories through the All Programs section. Afterward, click on Command Prompt and click on Run as Administrator. Then, type the following commands in the command prompt and press enter after every command:
- bcdedit /deletevalue nointegritychecks
- bcdedit /deletevalue loadoptions
- bcdedit /debug off
- bcdedit /deletevalue nx
Once you do this, restart your computer and launch Steam again to check whether the issue has been resolved or not.
These were some methods that you can try to fix the issue in CS:GO. We hope that they will help you out.
